Cream Suits
Warmer than white, softer than tan
Cream is the color to choose when white is too stark and tan is too casual. It carries the brightness that makes a summer suit work without the clinical edge of pure white, and it flatters a considerably wider range of skin tones.
It is a daytime color and a warm-weather color, and it is unapologetically a statement. Nobody wears cream by accident. That is part of its appeal and the reason it belongs to occasions rather than to routine.
Varrison cream suits are cut in a tailored fit and arrive ready to wear, made from high quality fabric.
Where it works
- Destination and beach weddings: the natural home of a cream suit, as a guest, groomsman or groom.
- Summer garden parties and daytime receptions: bright, seasonal and correct.
- Resort and warm-climate travel: cream reads as relaxed formality in a way few colors manage.
- Spring races and daytime social events: where a dark suit would look heavy and out of season.
Wearing it
Keep the rest of the outfit soft. A white or pale blue shirt, no tie or a lightweight knitted one, and brown or tan leather shoes: loafers, suede derbies, anything that reads daytime. Black shoes with cream is too hard a contrast and drags the outfit somewhere it does not want to go.
Fit matters more in a pale suit than a dark one. Light colors cast fewer shadows, so there is less to disguise a poor line, and every fold shows.
A practical note
Cream shows everything. Plan for that rather than being surprised by it: it is a suit for celebrations you will enjoy, not for long journeys, crowded bars, or anywhere you will be handed a glass of red wine in a tight space.
