The color weddings turned to
Green has moved from novelty to mainstream in menswear, and weddings are the reason. Couples building a color palette want something that is neither the default navy nor a costume, and green delivers exactly that. It is distinctive without being loud, and it photographs beautifully against almost any outdoor setting.
It is also genuinely flattering. Green sits closer to natural tones than blue or gray, which means it tends to warm the wearer rather than drain color from the face.
Varrison green suits are cut in a tailored fit and arrive ready to wear, made from high quality fabric.
The shades, and what they are for
- Olive: the most wearable and least formal. Excellent for daytime, autumn events and business casual settings.
- Forest and hunter: deeper and more formal. The strongest choice for autumn and winter weddings and evening receptions.
- Emerald: the boldest. A statement color for grooms and for evening events where standing out is the intention.
- Sage: soft and muted. A spring and summer color, particularly for garden and outdoor ceremonies.
Wearing it
Keep the shirt simple and let the suit do the work. White is the cleanest, cream is warmer, and pale blue works with the lighter shades. Brown shoes are the natural partner for every shade of green, and tan or mid-brown suede is particularly good with olive. Black shoes work only with the darkest forest tones and even then are the less interesting choice.
For ties, stay in earth and neutral tones. Brown, rust, burgundy and muted patterns all work. Adding a second strong color competes with the suit rather than completing it.
When to wear it
Weddings above all, as a groom wanting to stand apart from a navy wedding party, as a groomsman in a coordinated palette, or as a guest at an outdoor or seasonal celebration. Also strong for autumn events, creative professional settings, and any occasion where navy would feel like the safe answer.
